People we've met along the way.

People (and stuffed animals) we've met along the way:

After dropping Alan off at Clingmans Dome to hike some of the Appalachian Trail.  We drove on to Chicago, the start point for Route 66.

We were made to promise to not to pick up Brad Pitt (some reference to Thelma & Louise; but remember: NO!! We are NOT Thelma and Louise).  So since neither of us had ever tasted Moonshine (we weren't even sure it was real) we stopped in to meet Darryl, the self-proclaimed "Moonshine Legend".  As you can see, we are staying true to our promise.

We had the opportunity to visit with Fiona's longtime friends Cliff & Kathy Cox. And Kim now considers them among people she holds dear in her heart.  They are some of the most beautiful people you will meet with hearts full of love, generosity and caring you will ever meet.
As you can see by Fiona and Kathy's expressions, the sun was shining bright.  And by his absence from the photo you can see Cliff escaped to the college campus before I was able to get his pictur

And so the adventure begins...

With our faithful mascot.  Elle named her Ginger.  So, for now we are going with it.

A few famous faces we met early on our trip.  Polka Dot Diner is a real fun stop.  true diner complete with the juke boxes to insert a quarter and play some oldies but goodies.  oh... and burgers $2!!!

a few more famous friends.

In Springfield we met our 16th president.  Visited his home and resting place.

Mike.
President of the Cuba, MO Lions Club.  He was directing traffic for the antique car show.  He was fun and funny.  People in this part of the country have time to pause and chat a while.
More to come.
